In The “Fau Research In Action” Discussion Series

March 7, 2019, 2:00–3:00pm At Downtown Library

Boca Raton, FL – Have you ever wondered what information animals are communicating? Or if animals are honest with each other? Join us for an engaging talk, “Why Birds Sing, Why It Matters,” with Rindy Anderson, PhD, as she answers these questions and more on a journey into the lives of animals and the signals they use to fight, flirt, coexist and survive.

Dr. Anderson developed her love of bird song and field ornithology while earning her PhD at the University of Miami. She honed her skills in bioacoustics analysis and animal cognition testing while doing postdoctoral work at Duke University. In her fascinating presentation on Thursday, March 7, 2:00pm, at the Downtown Library, Dr. Anderson will share her passion for animal behavior. Register for this free program through the calendar at bocalibrary.org or by calling the library at 561-393-7852.

This is the third program in the “FAU Research in Action” series—a yearlong collaboration between Florida Atlantic University’s Division of Research and the City of Boca Raton Libraries in which researchers share their innovative work and seek input from the community. Oyuki De Santiago Poletz, Program Services Librarian, notes, “Boca Raton is fortunate to have an active research university in our own backyard. This series is an excellent opportunity for our residents to engage with the experts at Florida Atlantic University and contribute to the direction of ground-breaking research.”

FAU’s Division of Research supports faculty conducting research, forging innovations, and advancing science and technology in all disciplines. It assists in enhancing and growing the research enterprise at the university. The division also promotes a number of entrepreneurial and economic development initiatives that give faculty, students and the community opportunities to launch start-ups, create jobs and reach for their dreams.
