This past Sunday, under the leadership of the Rotary Club Boca Raton West and their president, Douglas Heizer, all six Rotary Clubs of the Boca Raton area came together for the 13th Annual Boca Raton Toy Drive.

The event, which was first put together by Douglas Heizer and David Wilson in 2006 and since then Heizer grew the event from just one Rotary Club to include all local Rotary Clubs in Boca Raton to collect toys for the unprivileged children in our area.

Several local stores and organizations came together once again in 2019, as they do every year to bring toys to the event. The toys donated this year will be given to the Caridad Center, the same recipient organization from 2018.

Over 500 toys were collected on the day of the event but that does not mean the Toy Drive is over! People interested in donating can still donate toys by dropping or shipping them off at Ultimate Soccer Store 91956 NE 5th Ave #01, Boca Raton, FL 33431) in Boca Raton until December 19.

The Rotary Club Boca Raton West will hold an event to award and thank the people who helped make the 13th Annual event a success at their meeting on January 16. That day the club will also give a final report from the 2019 event.

Like every year, the City of Boca Raton supported the event and Mayor Scott Singer was attendance to meet with all the Rotary Club Presidents and proclaim Sunday, December 8, 2019, as ROTARY CAROUSEL DAY.

It’s not too late to help. If you want to make a cash donation, you can do so by going to www.bocaratontoydrive.com  and making your donation. If you want to donate the toys, please them off at Ultimate Soccer Store 91956 NE 5th Ave #01, Boca Raton, FL 33431) in Boca Raton until December 19.
