On Tuesday evening, the Habitat for Humanity of South Palm Beach County “CEO Build” fundraising event celebrated and harnessed the unstoppable power of corporate leaders to come together to help transform their community by helping and working alongside a local, hardworking, low-income family with a hand up, not a hand out, to build a safe, decent and affordable place to call home.

Each “CEO Builder” had the opportunity to devote part of one day to help meet and build alongside the family in the construction process, the day offered an empowering, unique, fun, and positive environment to give back, and to learn a few construction skills from the experienced crew leaders along the way!

Habitat for Humanity of South Palm Beach County is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization that works to provide affordable homeownership opportunities for hardworking and deserving families in the cities of Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, and Boca Raton. They build homes in partnership with families who demonstrate a need for housing and a willingness to work with us to purchase a home of their own. With the help of generous supporters and volunteers, since their establishment in 1991, they have empowered over 150 families in our community to achieve their dream of owning a safe, decent and affordable home.

Halloween at the Addison was back for the fourth consecutive year. Five Star Diamond Award winning event venue and historic Boca Raton landmark the Addison showcased the venue’s delicious catering, an open-bar, live entertainment and outrageous event production.

Voted “Event of the Year” by Boca Magazine, this year’s theme was “Neon Nights” and featured a glow-in-the-dark theme styled by Daniel Events.

Through 10 weeks of raising funds and awareness for Best Buddies, seven Community Champions and their Campaign Managers generated countless opportunities for friendships, jobs, and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Friday evening, at the campaign’s conclusion, we joined together to celebrate accomplishments, honor the Champions’ collective impact, and name the ultimate Champion of the Year! We were very proud when our friend, who lived up to her name, Kim Champion, was named Champion of the Year with a total raised that exceed $30,000.

Through Best Buddies, thousands of people with disabilities have successfully moved from segregation and desolation to a new acceptance in their family and community. In turn, Best Buddies has created a new spirit of public service for thousands of middle school, high school and college volunteers that will last a lifetime.

Best Buddies helps children and young adults with “IDD,” intellectual and developmental disabilities. Best Buddies help promote INCLUSION opportunities, one-to-one friendships, and INTEGRATED job opportunities. On Saturday night, Place of Hope at The Leighan and David Rinker Campus recognized Kelly Fleming, who received the Individual Hero of Hope award, and NCCI, Inc., accepted by Bill Donnell, received the Corporate Hero of Hope award; as their 2019 Jay DiPietro Heroes of Hope at the Seventh Annual Hope Bash Boca, presented by the Coulombe Family Foundation. The event was not only a way to raise funds for programs that changes lives, but it was also a way for friends of Palm Beach County’s children, youth and families to gather “Under the Palms” to celebrate local leaders.

Place of Hope at The Leighan and David Rinker Campus is a unique faith-based, state-licensed children’s organization providing family-style foster care (emergency and long-term); family outreach and intervention; maternity care; safety for victims of domestic minor sex trafficking; transitional housing and support services for youth aging out of foster care; housing and support services for homeless families; foster care recruitment and support; hope and healing opportunities for children and families who have been traumatized by abuse and neglect throughout our region.

Place of Hope at The Leighan and David Rinker Campus is dedicated to providing a stable and loving family environment for hurting children and their families. They are committed to meeting desperate needs in our community by sharing God’s love and placing hope in their lives – one child and family at a time.

Walk of Recognition – November 6th from 6 – 9:30PM

The Walk of Recognition inductees are individuals who have demonstrated a significant long-term commitment to serving the interest of Boca Raton and enriching the lives of its residents. Since its inception in 1997, these deserving residents have received their “stars” for this prestigious community award.

A cornerstone of the community and supporter of numerous organizations in the area, Marta Batmasian originally conceived of the award, which has become an annual community program organized and maintained by the Boca Raton Historical Society & Museum.

An independent panel of judges reviews each application and selects two or three outstanding community leaders. Each of the recipients will have their names carved into a black granite star and placed on the Walk of Recognition monument at Royal Palm Place.

Walk of Recognition 2019 will recognize this year’s new inductees and also honor the leadership and legacy of all Walk of Recognition recipients. Those who wish to salute a favorite legend in the program or become a sponsor may contact the Boca Raton Historical Society & Museum at 561.395.6766 ext. 101.

Improving the lives of children and families, individuals of all ages for over 45 years, The Faulk Center for Counseling offers free and low-cost mental health services. Proceeds from this event will help over 2,000 South Florida children and adults through individual and group counseling programs.
