A New Effort to Change Open Carry Laws Defended by Palm Beach Police Chief

Police Chief Nichola Caristo of Palm Beach expresses his concern with current open carry laws in Florida.

Due to this, Chief Caristo received a great deal of pushback from local gun advocates but this has not stopped him.

At a recent Public Safety meeting, Chief Caristo addressed the concerns of members of Florida Carry, Inc. which advocates for gun rights.

He followed up this meeting with a social media push asking citizens to call their local lawmakers supporting the proposed bill.

He states the need for a change in open carry laws stems from the possible fear it could instill seeing an “AR-15 and fishing pole over your shoulder.” Especially when these demonstrations are near parks, schools, and churches.

According to WPTV, many who advocate for gun rights have taken matters into their own hands hosting demonstrations of “open carrying.”

Florida carry members are also planning a demonstration at the Royal Park Bridge on January 4th of 2020 in opposition of this bill.
