Mitch Albom Returns to Non-Fiction and to Boca Raton with Debut of New Book

Boca Raton’s Congregation B’nai Israel will host a special evening with acclaimed author of Tuesdays with Morrie, Mitch Albom on Thursday November 14th at 7 pm.

Albom is an author, journalist, screenwriter, playwright, radio and television broadcaster and musician. His books have collectively sold over 35 million copies worldwide; have been published in forty-one territories and in forty-two languages around the world; and have been made into Emmy Award-winning and critically-acclaimed television movies.

He returns to nonfiction for the first time in more than a decade with a poignant memoir that celebrates Chika, a young Haitian orphan whose short life would forever change his heart., Finding Chika: A Little Girl, an Earthquake, and the Making of a Family,

In addition to discussing his new book, Albom will share his personal experiences and connections to Judaism in the evening’s presentation.

Tuesdays with Morrie, The Five People You Meet in Heaven, For One More Day and Have a Little Faith have been made into award-winning television movies.

Albom has also founded 10 charities, including nine in the Detroit area, such as S.A.Y. Detroit, which operates a family health clinic; A Time to Help, a volunteer organization; and A Hole in the Roof Foundation, which repairs faith-based homeless shelters. He also directs the Have Faith Haiti Mission in Port Au Prince, which helps impoverished children and orphans, as well as the Chika Fund, which provides life-saving medical costs and health care.

Albom has been named the #1 Sports Columnist in the Nation by the Associated Press Sports Editors (APSE) 13 times. In June 2010 he received the APSE Red Smith Award for lifetime achievement, the biggest prize in sports journalism, and in June 2013, he was inducted into the Sportswriters Hall of Fame.

Albom hosts two radio shows on WJR-AM and has appeared on The Today Show, Oprah, and CBS Sunday Morning. His articles have been featured in The New York Times, GQ and Sports Illustrated. Currently, he is developing an hour-long TV show for TNT.

About the Author

- Robert Weinroth is a 27 year resident of Boca Raton where he is an attorney, businessman, former member of the City Council (where he served for four years) and currently serves as an elected member of the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners. Commissioner Weinroth went to Boston’s Northeastern University where he earned a BSBA in Management. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor at New England School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey and the Supreme Court of the United States. Weinroth served as president and general counsel of Freedom Medical Services Inc, an accredited medical supply company in Boca Raton.
