Boca Raton Woman Killed by Falling Tree Branch was Only 23-Years-Old

On Saturday afternoon, news broke out that a Boca Raton resident was struck and killed by a falling tree branch in a local neighborhood.

This tragedy occurred at the Boca Teeca neighborhood on Northwest Second Avenue. The neighborhood is landscaped with oak, banyan and palm trees.

According to Sun Sentinel, 23-year-old Alyssa Jacobson was out for a walk on Saturday morning. As you may remember, Saturday was an extremely windy day as we prepared for the “cold front” approaching.

Meteorologists state the winds were up to 35 mph and sustained winds of 23 mph which caused the tree branch to fall at an immense force.

The victim, Alyssa Jacobson, was a Fort Lauderdale native and graduated Harriet I. Wilkes Honors College of Florida Atlantic University. She had recently completed her masters in Business Administration at FAU.

In honor of Jacobson’s life, the Alyssa Sangeeta Jacobson Scholoarship fund has been created. Contributions can be made to Friends of Youth Services Inc., or checks can be mailed to 50 S. Military Trail, Suite 203, West Palm Beach.
