Boca Raton Man Attempts to Rob a West Boca Wells Fargo

A 73-year-old man wearing a ‘Make America Great Again’ shirt and dark sunglasses walks into a Wells Fargo Bank located in West Boca Raton with nothing but a sticky note this past Monday.

According to The Palm Beach Post, on that sticky note the words, “Give me $1,100 now. No alarms. Hope to get caught.” were handwritten on the back.

The man, Sandy Hawkins, walked into the Wells Fargo and asked the teller for $1,100, and when the teller asked Hawkins for his debit card, he put his hand to his belt and said he had a weapon, and that this was a robbery. It wasn’t apparent until later that there was no weapon, and Hawkins was charged with robbery without a weapon.

Police were able to find Hawkins, thanks to a manager of a local sports bar in which Hawkins is a regular. The manager gave police Hawkin’s home address from which he was arrested. Immediately as Hawkins was being arrested, he gave the police the sticky note he went into the bank with and confirmed that it was him in the security camera at the bank.
