Two is Better Than One: PBCS Board Votes in a New Director of School Police

It goes without say that Palm Beach County schools have recently been experiencing a great deal of threats.

After the Stoneman Douglas tragedy, school safety has been a top propriety in Florida through taking every threat seriously.

With all the precautions and police interventions, policing proves to be a rigorous task that can be difficult for only one person to handle.

According to WPTV, Frank Kitzerow Chief of Police for Palm Beach County Schools, states the need for more than one person to lead policing.

Kitzerow illustrates how the force has nearly doubled from 150 positions to 288 since 2017. He demonstrates the impact that more officers have on a safer school environment.

Taking all of this into consideration, the board voted seven to zero in appointing a second chief in command, Police Chief Dan Alexander. This is an operational position for the director of school police.

The second-in-command Chief will be useful in assisting through threat assessments, investigations, and all other drills necessary for school safety.

Further details about when the new director of Police will begin, has yet to be announced.
