The Rotary Club of Lake Worth Beach

President Brian and Doug Mosley, who is in charge of the Boca Raton Bowl

Boca Raton, FL – Our Speaker Doug Mosley is employed by ESPN Sports television network to run the Cheribundi (sponsor) Boca Raton Bowl.

Usually held the Tuesday before Christmas (this year it was moved to Saturday Dec. 21, because the Tuesday before Christmas is Christmas Eve.)

It is held at FAU stadium “Owl Stadium” and was first played in 2014, it is estimated $60,000,000 in revenue has been generated in local revenue.

The goal is to fill the stadium, so the price of a ticket is reasonable and 5,000 tickets are given to area kids who could not otherwise afford to go to a “Bowl” game and also lunch is also provided.

The ESPN company believes in being a good neighbor and giving back to the community.

Interact

Last Thursday Interact met they announced that they will be sending 4 students to RYLA.

They will also be involved in 2 neighborhood cleanup days as well as helping at the Forgotten Soldiers warehouse.

A time to say goodbye

Last Saturday night we gathered as a club to say goodbye to Bob and Gal Howell.

President Brian introduced Norm Gimpel, who has been a close friend of Bob’s for over 60 years, having worked together and vacationed many times in all parts of the world together.

Dave VanVleet spoke of the many years of Rotary they spent together and Phil Albertz spoke of the many contributions to our club that Bob has made.

The host (your editor) believes there is no bad excuse to have a party and this was a really good excuse.  The only bad part is that Bob and Gail are moving away and we will miss them.

Bob thanked everyone for coming and spoke of his many years as a Rotarian starting when he was asked to be part of a Group Study Exchange team that went to Sweden, and upon his return became a member of the Lake Worth Rotary Club.

It was a wonderful evening and a great time was had by all.
