Boca Raton Delivery man Accused of Elder Woman’s Death Could See Death Penalty
Back in August 19, delivery man Jorge Lachazo was accused of violently attacking an elderly 75-year-old-woman in her Boca Raton home.
Lachazo was a subcontractor at the time, delivering for Best Buy.
Lachazo was installing a washer and dryer at Udell’s home, when his co-worker David Gonzalez stepped out to make some phone calls.
Udell was then attacked with a mallet and covered in chemicals before she was set on fire by Lachazo.
Udell’s family sought out to change the legislation requiring extensive and ongoing background checks for in-home service workers. They moved on with this process through filing a lawsuit against Best Buy but action has yet to be taken.
Lachazo was charged with first-degree murder with a weapon, burglary, first-degree arson and robbery, to which he pleaded not guilty on all counts.
According to Sun Sentinel, on Monday the State Attorney’s Office filed a notice intending to seek the death penalty against Jorge Luis Dupre Lachazo.
