Morikami Museum’s Lantern Festival:

In The Spirit Of Obon

Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 3-8pm*

Morikami Museum invites you to join them for Japanese folk-dancing, drumming, their Ennichi street fair and iconic lantern floating ceremony in a fall festival in the spirit of Obon – Japan’s summer homage to ancestors who return for a brief visit to the living.

  • Experience an iconic lantern floating ceremony and firework display
  • See traditional folk dancing and taiko drumming performances
  • Enjoy the Ennichi Street Fair – vendors, games, activities and more
  • Taste Japanese street fair food and drink

*Festival opens for members and the general public at 3pm, the museum and gardens will be closed prior to 3pm.

In an effort to protect our guests from unauthorized ticket sales, please note that pursuant to Florida Statute 817.36, tickets purchased for Lantern Festival cannot be resold for more than $1.00 over the original admission price.

Lantern Festival Tickets

Ticket prices:

$20 for ages 11+

$12 for ages 4-10

Free for ages 3 and under

When to purchase:

Member pre-sale  ends September 27, 2019 at 11:59 p.m.

Purchase Tickets*Members may only purchase one ticket for each individual covered by their current membership. For questions about joining or your current membership, please email morikamimembers@pbcgov.org.

General admission ticket sales start October 7, 2019 at 10AM.

About your ticket purchase
  • Tickets are non-refundable
  • Group, student and senior discounts are not available for this event
  • Lantern Festival is a rain or shine event
  • Tickets are sent to the email address provided and must be printed and presented at festival admission the day of the event
  • No tickets will be sold at the door

Food and Beverage TicketsIn order to accommodate the large amount of guests at the festival, festival food vendors, the beer garden and sake station accept only food and beverage tickets as payment. Food and beverage tickets are available for purchase on festival grounds. Each ticket is equal to $1 and may be purchased by cash or credit card. ATMs are also available on site. The Cornell Café accepts food and beverage tickets in addition to cash or credit cards.

Sapporo Beer GardenStop by the Sapporo Beer Garden, located on festival grounds, featuring one of Japan’s most prominent and respected breweries. Choose from a selection of Sapporo Premium, Sapporo Premium Light and Sapporo Black available in bottles and draft.

Cornell CaféThe open-air café serves Pan-Asian classics on a terrace overlooking the gardens. The Cornell Café will offer an abridged a-la-carte menu during the festival, but on regular days you can try any of the full menu’s delectable offerings. Check back soon for our cafe menu!

Sake StationOur Sake Station offers a variety of premium Japanese sake as well as tasting notes, and sakes you might not find anywhere else in South Florida. Can’t choose just one? Check back soon for our sake menu!

Festival Food VendorsOn festival grounds, enjoy a variety of Pan-Asian and all-American favorites, including some Japanese-inspired fall flavors, cooked on site by our festival food vendors. Check back soon for our food vendor menu!
