Great Opposition in Millage Tax Increase for Boca Raton Beach and Park District

There has recently been word of a possible tax increase that could impact residents in the Beach and Park District and citizens were not happy.

There was a large resident turnout in Boca Raton linked to the critique over proposed 19-percent millage tax increase for the Boca Raton Beach and Park District, one of the first proposed tax increases in the last four years.

According to WPTV, the city of Boca Raton officially opposed the districts proposed tax increase.

As a result, a plethora of people showed up to have their voice heard in dealing with the opposition toward the Boca Raton Beach and Park District commissioner’s meeting.

Commissioner’s support the hike through stating it is a result to necessary funding in capital improvement projects. These projects include the plans for Gumbo Limbo, Spanish River and a maintenance facility.

Following the meeting Craig Ehrnst, Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District commissioner, announced they will be tabling the discussion about the rate increase until the city and district can reach an agreement.
