Addiction Treatment Center in South Florida to Shut Down and Lay Off 230 Workers

Addiction treatment facilities are extremely important within a community to encourage recovery but as it turns out South Florida will be losing one, The Watershed Treatment Programs.

With the shutting down of the addiction treatment centers in Boynton Beach and Delray Beach, comes a large impact.

230 workers will be laid off after Watershed struggles to maintain financial help from investors, as they mentioned in their letter to state and local officials on September 4th.

According to Sun Sentinel, the facility employs 231 workers with 154 in the Boynton location and 77 in Delray, as well as 44 employees in Texas. Layoffs have already begun and are expected to be done by December 31.

Watershed is expected to close all remaining operations within four to six months and will no longer be accepting new admissions.

In Watershed’s attempt to obtain new capital, they were unable to provide employees with a 60-day notice of the major layoff.
