Police Strictly Patrolling School Zones for Speeders

As a new school year begins, Boynton Beach police officers are ensuring school zones are safe and free of speeders.

The first day of this school year marked 41 written speeding citations. WPTV states that some drivers were even caught going 47 mph in a 20 mph school zone, leading to a $400 fine.

The second day of school did not fall far behind, officers wrote 16 citations. Six of these citations occurred at Citrus Cove Elementary School, two citations issued at Crosspointe Elementary and eight at Freedom Shores Elementary.

Officials urge citizens to stay safe by not speeding in school zones and ensuring their children do not cross any roads unless accompanied by an adult.
