Florida Sees Another Hepatitis A-Related Death

In the wake of Florida’s public health emergency, Martin County sees its fifth hepatitis A-related death.

Medical examiners ruled the virus to be the main contributing factor to a mans death back in July.

According to WPTV, health officials reported 68 new cases of hepatitis A in Florida just last week.

The Florida Department of health reported 2,192 cases to the state between Jan. 1 and Aug. 10.

Pasco County has seen majority of the cases in Florida, at 373.

Department of Health Secretary, Scott Rivkees, declared a public health emergency on August 1st.

Citizens are urged to get vaccinated against hepatitis A immediately.
