Set Sail with the Symphony of the Americas Summerfest

Boca Raton, FL – South Florida’s Major Cultural Institution, Symphony of the Americas, presents internationally acclaimed guest artists from around the globe this July and August in its celebrated Summerfest music festival, with five (5) weeks of performances throughout Florida and the Americas.

As the longest running music festival in Florida, Summerfest brings the masterful sounds of its popular Chamber Orchestra, along with musicians and soloists from renowned orchestras throughout Europe to various south Florida venues to perform several styles of classical and popular music. With this year’s sunny “Sail Away” theme*, the schedule is anchored by a concert at its regular seasonal performance home, the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, on the evening of Friday July 19th.

Traditionally, more than ten (10) different countries are represented on stage at Summerfest concerts, and this year’s Summerfest cultural exchange includes musicians from the Opera Orchestra of Bulgaria, Mission Symphony of Switzerland and Orchestre Francais. Soloists are Angelo di Veroli (marimba~Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma, Italy), Summerfest Concertmaster Orlando Forte of Cuba, Symphony of the Americas Principal Trumpet Claudio Osorio, Glenn Basham (Concertmaster of Naples Philharmonic), and acclaimed international organist Tim Brumfield, among others.

Artistic Director Maestro James Brooks-Bruzzese will lead two musical programs featuring music of Vivaldi, Humperdinck, Beethoven, Tartini, Dvorak, and Mozart. Highlighted is a commissioned composition by Italian composer in residence, Lorenzo Turchi-Floris. Additional performances feature the Quartetto Orfeo, of Rome.

A large part of the mission of Symphony of the Americas is to reach audiences in corners of the world who have never before experienced the exhilaration of live orchestral performance, and Summerfest outreach includes a week of performances for residents and students of Panama in partnership with the US Embassy, Bern Resorts, Junior Achievement and Rotary Clubs. Presented in association with Europe’s Musicfor, the festival aligns with their international mission of promoting music, donating musical instruments and their work with young students.

Summerfest features two performances of varied musical repertoire with the Summerfest Chamber Orchestra in a special 2-Performance discount applicable to any two of the following performance dates:
