Hard Rock Stadium – Miami, March 31st, 2019 – Roger Federer defeats John Isner at the Miami Open 2019 in two sets at 6-1, 6-4 to win his 101st career title and 20th Grand Slam. Federer becomes the first champion at the new Miami Open venue at Hard Rock Stadium. At 37 years old, Federer is still on the top of his game and unlikely looking to retire. Isner, who finished the match in obvious discomfort from an injury adressed the crowd with generous words towards Federer: ” You were entirely too good today, you were entirely too good this whole tournament, entirely too good your whole career. It’s incredible what you are doing, we are so lucky to have you in the game”. Isner finished by saying: “We all want you to keep playing and literally never retire”.

Ashleigh Barty of Australia defeated Karolina Plíšková of the Czech Replublic in the singles final to win the WTA title on Saturday, March 30th.

Total attendance for the men’s final was 17,373 setting a men’s final attendance record. Overall attendance was 388,734 setting a tournament record.
