72-year-old to Cycle 100 miles to Fight Cancer

Boca Raton, FL – In the early morning of Saturday, April 27, 72-year-old Delray Beach cyclist Leonard “Len” Cline will undertake a 100-mile bike ride around Palm Beach County. Len, a resident at Abbey Delray retirement community, is taking on the incredible feat to raise $10,000 as part of a Relay for Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

Months of preparation have gone into the endeavor and Len has even inspired some Abbey Delray team members to join in. Executive Director Mark Trepanier and Human Resources Director Antonieta Caicedo will complete their own 100-mile rides alongside him. This is in addition to the many Abbey Delray residents who will cheer the group on across the finish line.

Len says that providing support to charitable causes such as Relay for Life is an important part of the community culture at Abbey Delray. The community is also a big proponent of physical activity for its residents, and with good reason. According to the National Institutes of Health, physical activity such as cycling can help improve cognitive function, manage stress, and prevent or delay many diseases and disabilities.
