Child returns home from school and is attacked by neighborhood Pit Bull

Boca Raton, FL – Deputies responded to a report of a pit bull attacking a child in the mobile home park.  Upon arrival the deputies attempted to corral the pit bull when it began to charge at one of the deputies.  The deputy in fear for the boy who was just attacked, his life and others discharged his firearm striking the pit bull and killing him.

The child was badly bitten.  He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.  He is expected to survive.

Deputies learned that the child had just returned home from school when he was attacked by the pit bull.

Animal Care and Control are currently on scene assisting deputies with finding the owner of the dog.
