The Teams Have Arrived for the 2018 Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl on Tuesday December 18th

The following information has been provided by the City of Boca Raton and the Cheribundi Boc Raton Bowl. We are pleased to be the venue for the 5th year of the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl. It’s a week of activities for the family throughout the county. To make the week more enjoyable, review the following information. Please remember to expect heavy delay in and around the Boca Raton campus of FAU (most particularly, Glades Rd nd Spanish River Blvd) on Game Day (December 18th).

The City of Boca Raton welcomes players and fans from around the country to enjoy an exciting match up in the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl. This year’s game will feature the Northern Illinois Huskies (NIU) from the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and the University of Alabama at Birmingham Blazers (UAB) from Conference USA (CUSA).

What to expect at the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl
Pep Rally:
  • FREE and open to the public! This year’s event schedule includes a concert, food and beverages and the addition of a commencement ceremony for about 15 UAB football players that are missing their official commencement at home.
  • Date – Monday, December 17
  • Schedule of Events
  • 5:30pm – 6:30pm – Commencement
  • 6pm – 6:30pm – Welcome remarks and performances by The Marching Blazers and Spirit Team
  • 6:30pm – 8:30pm – Performance by U2 Tribute Band
  • Location – Mizner Park Amphitheater, 590 Plaza Real
  • Weather – The pep rally goes on rain or shine.
  • Grab a seat – Guests are welcome to bring a chair or blanket. Chairs are also available for rent at the venue for $5 cash.
What to expect at the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl Bowl Game:
  • Match up between NIU and UAB. Airing live on ESPN before a national audience and globally on affiliate channels around the world.
  • Pre-game tailgating and FREE festivities starting at 3pm at the Built Ford Tough Fan Fest and Family Midway surrounding the stadium including a live performance by WOLFHAWK, family fun activities, food trucks, a beer garden and exhibition tents.
  • Date – Tuesday, December 18
  • Time – parking lots open at 3pm
  • 6:30pm – Opening Ceremony
  • 7pm – Kickoff
  • Location – FAU Stadium, 777 Glades Road

  • Bag Policy and Special Arrangements – FAU Stadium will be utilizing the NFL’s Handbag Policy for the 2018 Boca Raton Bowl. Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12” may be permitted into FAU Stadium. Read more…
How to get to the Pep Rally and where to park:
  • FREE Available parking –
  • Mizner Park Parking Garages (327 Plaza Real) – metered parking also available throughout Downtown Boca
  • City Hall (201 W Palmetto Park Road)
  • Building Administration (200 NW 2nd Avenue)
  • Downtown Public Library (400 NW 2nd Avenue)
  • Wildflower Park (551 E Palmetto Park Road)
  • Need a ride? – Hop on the Round the Town electric vehicle and have them pick you up at a designated area. Call or text 561-303-9173 for pick-up.
  • Bicyclists – Bike racks are available in front of City Hall. Be sure to wear reflective clothing and add reflective material to your bike for safety.
  • See Tracks? Think Train – For those walking to and from the pep rally, look and listen before crossing any train tracks.
  • Charge while you watch – An electric car charging station is available at City Hall.
How to get to the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl Game and where to park:
  • Parking – Parking lots will be open on FAU’s campus starting at 3pm. Parking for cars is $20.00 in all lots and will be available for purchase on game day. Motor home parking is also available. For more information, visit the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl website.
