Kensho Watanabe has been assistant conductor of The Philadelphia Orchestra since the 2016-17 season. In April 2017, he received worldwide attention and critical acclaim when he stepped in at the last minute for the indisposed conductor Nézet-Séguin.

Violinist David Kim is concertmaster of The Philadelphia Orchestra and the All Star Orchestra. He appears as soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra each season, as well as with numerous orchestras around the world.

Pre-Concert Conversation
A Pre-Concert Conversation with the conductor will take place on the day of the Connoisseur Concert, January 6, from 2-2:30 p.m., so ticket holders can learn more about the pieces to be performed that afternoon. There is no charge for concert ticket holders to attend.

Meet the Orchestra
This fun program for children and their parents introduces children to classical music. Kids meet musicians at the live dress rehearsal and participate in an
“instrument petting zoo.” The program takes place on the Saturday morning before the Connoisseur Concert from 10:30 am-12 noon on January 5, 2019.

Box Lunch It with The SYMPHONIA
Sit in on part of the Friday rehearsal and enjoy a box lunch afterwards with some of The SYMPHONIA’s musicians. The guest conductor provides context for the upcoming concert and the soloist will perform. Box Lunch It will begin promptly at 11:30 a.m. on January 4, 2019. Box Lunch It is held at the Unitarian Church, 2601 St. Andrews Boulevard, Boca Raton. Admission is $35.
