Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl Invites Public “to Play” During 2018 Bowl Week From Teams Airport Arrivals to Kick-off

While they may not be recruited “for the field”, area residents and businesses are encouraged to “get in the game” during the week of activities leading up to the fifth annual Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl on Tuesday, December 18 at FAU Stadium. There are plenty of opportunities South Floridians have to “cheer on” the only NCAA-sanctioned post-season college football bowl game in Palm Beach County, televised live on ESPN.

As Bowl leadership and the County ramps up preparations for the match between two conference champions: University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) from Conference USA (CUSA) and Northern Illinois University (NIU) from the  Mid-American Conference (MAC), the roster of free and open-to-the-public events include:

Pre-game Built Ford Tough Fan Fest and Family Midway: VIP Hospitality Tent hosted by Palm Beach International Airport

 

Join bowl leadership and county, city and tourism officials on the tarmac at
Palm Beach International Airport to give a warm Palm Beach County welcome the two bowl teams. This will be the first impression the teams will have of the bowl destination, so residents and businesses are encouraged to come out and show their South Florida pride and hospitality.

  • Monday, December 17: Team Pep RalliesCityPlace: 7 p.m.Join the NIU team band, cheer and dance squads and mascot to rally for their conference championship team amidst a schedule of holiday-themed evening programming at the center of CityPlace.

    Mizner Park Amphitheater: 6:00 p.m.
    Sponsored by City of Boca Raton and Spirit of Giving

Join the UAB team band, cheer and dance squads to rally for their conference championship team. Entertainment includes performances by tribute band: U2 by UV, the South Florida Fair tent and activities, Tucker Duke’s food truck. Guests are welcome to bring a chair or blanket. Chairs will also be for rent inside the venue for $5 cash.

  • Tuesday, December 18: Game Day for “Boca’s Biggest Annual Outdoor Party”

3:00  p.m. – Pre-game tailgating and FREE festivities at the Built Ford Tough Fan Fest and Family Midway surrounding the stadium kicks off the fun. There will be plenty to do and see, including live band performances by WOLFHAWK, family fun and games, activities, food trucks, a beer garden, exhibition tents featuring giveaways and contest. It is always a highlight to watch the entertainment-filled, friendly face-off of the marching bands and cheerleader squads with photo ops with mascot from the competing bowl teams.

 

WOLFHAWK

WOLFHAWK, a six-piece band, returns to rev up pre-game excitement by entertaining bowl-goers of all ages performing high energy rock songs from artists such as AC/DC, Foo Fighters, Bon Jovi, Led Zeppelin as well as original music with a similar feel. The band is notorious for its memorable performance, anthemic set lists and creating a party-like atmosphere at all of their shows. In the forefront of the area’s party scene, WOLFHAWK delivers a sing-out-loud brand of rock music intended to captivate, engage, and keep the crowd partying all night long. WOLFHAWK is Jay Brandt (vocals), Evan Crocker (lead guitar), Anthony Altieri (drums), Alex Keller (bass), Kevin Ross and Adam Beighley (rhythm guitars).

 

6:30 p.m. –  Opening ceremonies with all the pomp and revelry of traditional bowl game kick-off ceremonies, the traditional coin flip and the performance of the Star Spangled Banner by the 2018 Boca Raton Bowl Idol winner Adrianna Foster.


7:00 p.m. – Kick-off
