Boca Library Launches Cultural Connections Initiative

Boca Raton Public Library Launches Its 2019 Signature Initiative, Cultural Connections

Boca Raton, FL – The Boca Raton Public Library announces its Signature Initiative for 2019—Cultural Connections! Throughout the year, the library will promote a wider awareness of the cultural diversity in our community and provide opportunities for people to connect and share.

Adults will enjoy foreign film series; storytellers highlighting world folktales and Jamaican culture; language-learning and travel-themed classes; and classes taught in Spanish and Creole. Children will experience bilingual story times; culture-themed early literacy classes; book clubs; anime club; and multi-cultural crafts and classes. People of all ages will participate in our Summer Reading program, “A Universe of Stories.” Both libraries will feature culturally diverse books, CD and DVD displays, as well as hands-on activities from other countries.

“We have such a wide variety of cultures in South Florida, and BRPL is excited to share them with the community through unique experiences for children and adults at both of our libraries,” said Oyuki De Santiago Poletz, Program Services Librarian. “It is our hope that learning about other cultures will help people to build better relationships and a stronger community.”

Visit the calendar at bocalibrary.org for information on upcoming Cultural Connections programs and classes. All programs are free. Participants can register online or in person at either of our two locations: Downtown Library or Spanish River Library.
