Recount for Seat A Race to take place in Riviera Beach on Friday

The recount in the City Council Seat A race will take place this Friday after a long two days of making sure all votes were accounted for.

19 votes separate them.

As of the writing of this article, Andy Thomson holds a 19 vote lead over Kathy Cottrell in the race of Seat A.

The online vote total shows Thomson with 7,936 voted to Cottrell’s 7,917 votes. The additional votes came from provisional and previously uncounted ballots.

On election night, it looked as if Cottrell had defeated Thomson and gave a victory speech at her watch party at The Irishman in Boca Raton, however, as the night went on that lead began to diminish, and by midnight Thomson had a three-vote lead.

Because their totals are within 0.10 percent of each other, an automatic recount is required, Thomson has 44.12 percent, while Cottrell has 44.02 percent.

The recount will begin tomorrow, at 8:30am at 7835 Industrial Drive Suite 201, Riviera Beach, FL. Official watchers from each campaign will be at each counting table. With over 18,000 votes to count, they will have their work cut out for them. Observers are welcomed during anytimeany time counting process.
