The competition to find the next Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl Idol presented by Marshall Socarras Grant is heating up as online open-to-the-public voting begins Friday, July 6. Following review of video audio submission entries by the 2018 committee, the top 20 will be featured on www.CheribundiBocaRatonBowl.com for the public to help determine the top eight semi-finalists. The semi-finalists will then take the stage to compete live at the open-to-the-public event on August 1 at The Addison, Boca Raton for the opportunity to perform the National Anthem at the 2018 game.

Public Voting Opens This Friday

Twenty semi-finalists have been selected from dozens of South Florida vocalists and instrumentalists of all ages who entered the talent competition. The semifinalists’ audition videos will be featured for online voting at www.CheribundiBocaRatonBowl.com from Friday, July 6, through Sunday, July 15, at 11:59 p.m. The public is invited to vote for their favorite semi-finalist once per day throughout this round of the competition.

 

The Addison to Host Public Finalists Night on August 1 to Benefit Spirit of Giving

The final round kicks off Boca Chamber Festivals Days on Wednesday August 1, at
6 p.m., when the public is invited to watch eight finalists perform on stage for a panel of judges and live audience at The Addison, located at 2 East Camino Real, in Boca Raton. Friends, family and fans watching from “the stands” will have the chance to vote for their favorite contestant and a combination of those audience votes and judges selections will determine the top three who will perform once more before the winner is chosen.

Admission to the live performance finals event is $35 and includes food provided by The Addison.  A cash bar will be available. Proceeds from the event will benefit Spirit of Giving’s Back to School Bash. Tickets may be purchased through Spirit of Giving at www.spiritofgivingnetwork.com.

The winner will get the opportunity to perform the National Anthem during opening ceremonies at FAU Stadium prior to the game being televised nationally on Tuesday December 18. The winner will also receive 10 game tickets for family and friends which will include sideline access during the performance.

The Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl is one of 41 postseason college bowl games in the country and the only one hosted in Palm Beach County. Featuring all the pomp and circumstance of traditional bowl events, the Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl is a high-energy, entertaining experience for both college football fans and non-fans alike and allows the national spotlight to shine on Boca Raton and Palm Beach County. This year, the fifth annual bowl game will have primary
tie-ins for teams from Conference USA and the American Athletic Conference with the Mid-American Athletic Conference having a secondary tie-in. The team from Conference USA will make its headquarters at the Boca Raton Resort & Club and the American Athletic Conference team will be at the PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens.

This bowl game first ‘touched down’ in 2014 and has since aired live annually on ESPN throughout theU.S., as well as on international affiliates in South America, the Caribbean, Australia and Europe as well as on ESPN Radio. As one of 14 bowl games owned and operated by ESPN Events, a division of ESPN, this year’s bowl game is once again held on the Tuesday before Christmas. The event has become a celebrated annual holiday tradition in Boca Raton and Palm Beach County as it lives up to its other name, “Boca’s Biggest Annual Outdoor Party”. Bowl week activities will begin with the arrival of the participating teams on Friday, Dec. 14.
