A Celebration of Barry Epstein’s Life

I attended the very unique funeral of my fellow journalist, Barry Epstein who also worked for the Boca Raton Tribune yesterday. We were invited to sign in and were handed Mardi Gras beads and hawaian necklaces.

Several of the members of the audience got up to eulogize Barry, who alway’s had a joke ready when he greeted you and they told some of his most famous jokes. I never witnessed so many people laughing and enjoying a funeral before. After the service we proceeded to do a Shiva visit at Barry’s wife, Joanne’s home. With loads of foods, people paid tribute to Barry and told stories about him. I think this way of having a funeral is awesome!

On another sad note, I also attended the funeral of the very beautiful 28 year old Samantha Crayon who died tragically. So many young people packed the funeral home to a standing room only attendance. Such a beautiful young lady that I sat next to on Christmas Eve at Villagio Restaurant. She was so sweet. So sad to leave this world so young.
