Following a decorated senior campaign, 2018 Lynn University baseball alum Patrick Dorrian will continue his playing career as the shortstop signed a free-agent contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday. This marks the eighth consecutive year a member of the Fighting Knights has signed with a Major League Baseball club.

The Kingston, N.Y., native racked up multiple awards in his final collegiate season after ranking inside the Sunshine State Conference’s top-five in batting average (.394), slugging percentage (.798), hits (74), on-base percentage (.471), runs batted in (57), triples (6) and home runs (17).

In addition to his SSC Player of the Year accolade, Dorrian was a consensus First Team All-American, becoming just the fifth player in program history to land First Team All-America honors three times in a single season.

Dorrian joins Rigo Beltran from the 2018 Lynn baseball graduating class as Fighting Knights to move on to the pros. Beltran was selected in the 31st round of the MLB Amateur Draft to the Seattle Mariners.
