Boca Raton Historical Society & Museum Hosts Birthday Party for Town Hall’s 90th Anniversary

By: Bryanna Basilio

“Cheers to 90 Years!”, that was the motto at the 90th birthday party for Boca Raton’s Town Hall, held on Thursday December 7, 2017 by the Boca Raton Historical Society & Museum.

The community celebration recognized the importance of Town Hall in the history of the city with a phenomenal slideshow and retrospective given by Kathy Dickenson on the restoration of Town Hall in the 1980’s. Many of the preserved vintage furnishing and architectural pieces seen in the presentation still exist as part of the building today.

The event opened with an introduction by Historical Society Board of Trustees President Yvette Drucker, on the restoration of Town Hall in the 1980’s, and closed with the cutting of a celebratory birthday cake.

The party coincided with a holiday celebration at the Fire Bay Gift Shop, also housed in Town Hall. The gift shop featured a sale of many Boca Raton-centric gifts as well as muddled orange wine, a recipe direct from the Historical Society’s own Pioneer Cookbook. Attendees at the event were invited to shop, enjoy refreshments, and even enter to win a raffle for a handmade quilt featuring historical locations throughout the city of Boca Raton.

All proceeds from the raffle and sales at the Fire Bay Gift Shop benefitted the Boca Raton Historical Society & Museum.
