Tim Gallwey to Host Inner Game Conference in Orlando

By: Michael Demyan

Tim Gallwey, the creator of the Inner Game coaching method, is hosting a three-day conference in Orlando, starting with a pre-conference event on Nov. 30.

The pre-conference event, called “One Night with Tim Gallwey,” begins at 7 p.m. at the Orlando Science Center. It precedes the main conference which begins the next morning at the Point Resort Hotel.

Attendees will be learning everything about Gallwey’s Inner Game, a coaching strategy the former professional tennis player began using over 45 years ago. After spending some time as a coach, Gallwey realized that the common ways of coaching prevented a player from truly focusing. He needed to come up with a way to direct them in a way that felt more natural, rather than telling them to do and do not.

His new coaching methods were so successful that they were published in a book called “The Inner Game of Tennis,” which quickly became a New York Times Bestseller. The new method only blossomed from there, leading to a six-part TV series and Gallwey’s second book, The Inner Game of Golf.

The Inner Game method is now used for numerous different types of sports, with many professional athletes crediting their success to what they discovered in Gallwey’s books. Professional coaches Steve Kerr and Pete Carroll, along with New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady have all used and continue to use Inner Game methods.

The Inner Game is not solely used in sports now, however. After the success of “The Inner Game of Golf,” Gallwey wrote “The Inner Game of Music,” applying his strategies to something different, yet very familiar.

That later lead to Gallwey helping companies such as AT&T, Coca-Cola, IBM and Apple to think differently in the workplace. “The Inner Game of Work” was then published in 1999.

The Inner Game is all about learning in a different way and using guidance to allow people to follow their instincts, moving away from fear of doing something wrong. Those who attend the three-day conference will be learning how to use the Inner Game in their own lives. It will also feature numerous guest speakers, such as Boca Raton resident Mauricio Braz,  Denise Lovisaro and a special interview with Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi.

Tickets can be purchased by going to www.timgallweyinorlando.eventbee.com . Full ticket packages can be purchased for the entire event, however if only interested in the pre-conference, attendees can purchase a ticket to that event for a special Black Friday price of $220. Tickets for the entire weekend are also on sale at a special price through Nov. 27.
