The Rotary Club of Boca Raton’s 19th Annual OPAL Awards Celebration Announces Recipients

Going nineteen years strong, the Annual OPAL Awards celebration is in full swing and is planned for Saturday, January 14 , 2017 at 6:30pm at The Boca West Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida.  This year’s educational theme will be “Don’t Drop The Ball” and promises to be the biggest and best to date. This year’s Black Tie   awards show will be hosted by Community Leaders and past OPAL award honorees Jay and Marilyn Weinberg, along with past Rotary Club presidents Spencer Siegel and Neil Saffer. Held each year as a fundraiser for college scholarships The OPAL Awards have raise hundreds of thousands of dollars each year for deserving area students.

The OPAL Awards recipients are selected each year by former winners of the prestigious award, and represent those “Outstanding People and Leaders” who have contributed through volunteerism to make our community a better place in which to live, work, and play.

The Rotary Club of Boca Raton’s motto is “Service Above Self” and their unique scholarship program emphasizes mentor-ship in addition to financial assistance. This program serves our community’s most vulnerable population, and provide both life skills and confidence to the scholars; many of whom are the first in their family to attend college.

It has truly grown to be the premier event in Boca Raton, and it is only appropriate considering the amazing honorees, who lead by example and inspire us” said Neil Saffer, Professional Auctioneer and Emcee for the evening. As in years past, Saffer expects a sell-out crowd will fill the great hall at the Boca West Country Club in celebration of the 19th Annual Opal Awards recipients.

This year’s OPAL Awards Honorees are:

  • Arthur Adler (Community Service Leadership)
  • Peter and Carmel Baronoff (Healthcare and Wellness Leadership)
  • Yvonne Boice (Education and Arts Leadership)
  • Jordan Zimmerman (Corporate and Philanthropic Leadership)
