How to talk to your kids about money

how-to-talk-to-your-kids-about-moneyThe Rotary Club Boca Raton West will have a special guest this coming Thursday, November 10th, 2016 during its weekly dinner at Restaurante Brasil.

His name is Aaron Standish. He is the K-12 Financial Literacy Coordinator for the School District of Palm Beach County. He oversees the implementation of financial literacy programs and activities in the District’s 180+ schools. In the past two years, at least one program has been piloted at each elementary level, as well as in middle school, high school and afterschool settings.

Prior to this, he was a teacher in the classroom for 13 years primarily teaching Economics and U.S. Government courses. He has a BS in Social Studies Education from Indiana University, and an MA in Economics and Entrepreneurship for Educators from the University of Delaware.

aaron-standishHow to Talk to Your Kids About Money” will discuss methods and introduce resources that can be used to introduce financial concepts to elementary-age (and even teenage) children. Included topics are: tips for introducing money issues with your kids, how to raise a saver, and the pros and cons of allowances. Additional resources will be shared that can be used at home to reinforce the ideas with your children.
