To Benefit Spirit of Giving Boca Raton Serves Up Food, Fun, Football and ‘Fan and Fund’ Raising All in Chefs Night Game Plan

38208357-e7ec-4953-b379-79a6b43ea7a9As one of the Boca Raton Bowl’s most popular open-to-the-public lead-in events, the Great Chefs Tailgate Showcase & College Spirit Night returns Thursday, November 17 from 6 to 8 pm at Via Mizner Golf & Country Club.  More than 350 guests are expected to kick-off a fan-tastic wave of Palm Beach County pride for the county’s own annual college football bowl game that is televised live by ESPN at FAU Stadium.

Featuring the ‘coolest, hottest and most quenching’ football tailgating food and drink recipe tastings from the area’s top country club, restaurant, corporate and celebrity chefs, the
tailgate-themed showcase party is the first south county community lead-in event for the
2016 Boca Raton Bowl postseason college football game that will match two teams selected from partners Conference USA, American Athletic Conference and Mid-American Conference. Dubbed ‘Boca’s Biggest Annual Outdoor Party℠’, the Boca Raton Bowl is the newest Boca holiday-timed tradition as a nationally televised spotlight shines brightly on Boca Raton and Palm Beach County. As one of 41 bowl games and the only one in Palm Beach County, the Boca Raton Bowl features all the traditional pomp and circumstance that makes game day a genuinely fun, entertaining experience for both college football fans and non-fans alike.

tailgatelogod0ba928a-5d17-4e8a-b512-a29a86d13336Continuing in the ‘culinary and community’ tradition set by its inaugural event last year, the second chefs tailgate showcase will be a big night for the area’s top chefs and college football fans as together they rev up holiday magic for children as proceeds benefit Spirit of Giving’s annual toy drive. The evening will feature tastings of the most creative tailgate cookery and quenchers — farm-to-table, tapas-style and coolest choice to grilling favorites, brews, cocktails, munchies and the ‘sweetest’ desserts — served up from the area’s popular chefs. A panel of ‘foodie and family fun’ expert and blogger judges will select their winners by category while local celebrity judges, including football tailgate authority FAU First Lady Carolyn Kelly, will vote for their MVP (Most Valuable Player) and MSP (Most Spirited Player) and event guests pick their People’s Choice.

Great Chefs Tailgate showcase fans are encouraged to gather their fellow college alumni to join in the fun. Tickets will also be on sale for individual, family pack and group tickets to the 2016 Boca Raton Bowl set to kick-off at FAU Stadium on Tuesday, December 20.0a599501-2399-4499-853a-1e7b5df58493

“I can’t wait to see what our showcase chefs create this year as a high bar was set by the chefs at our inaugural event,” said Boca Raton Bowl Executive Director Doug Mosley. Demonstrating that tailgate fare can be much more creative than traditional hot dogs and burgers, last year’s culinary game plan featured everything from Wings With Honey Bourbon Glaze, Chili Shooters, Foie Gras Bratwurst, Crab Cake With Yellow Tomato Relish, Guinness BBQ Pulled Pork Sliders to the One Shot Johnny Shepard’s Pie, FAU signature Talon Burger  and Mini S’mores Hand Pies.

Mosley added, “The moment you arrive you can feel the contagious energy permeating the room as chefs vie in friendly competition amidst fans enthusiastically sharing their alma mater pride with one another as collegiate season begins to wind down to bowl announcements. But all will agree the real winner will continue to be our bowl’s charity partner Spirit of Giving and the thousands of children in Palm Beach County that will benefit from its annual gift drive.”
