Boca Ballet Theatre Announces An Extrodinary “The Nutcracker” Performance This Year

Boca Ballet Theatre announces a huge milestone for this years The Nutcracker; we are celebrating 20 years of Marleen Forkas presenting this iconic ballet. Marleen and her late husband Harold donated the initial funds for all of the gorgeous back drops and costumes and Marleen has committed to support the production as presenter every year since. Boca Ballet Theatre is so grateful to have her as the Grand Dame of The Nutcracker!

cassandra-trenary-gray-davis-1Our favorite Sugar Plum Fairy, Cassandra Trenary, a soloist with American Ballet Theatre recently debuted her role as Aurora in The Sleeping Beauty.  This is what the New York Times wrote about her:  “To conquer Aurora is proof that a dancer is on her way to becoming a ballerina, and Cassandra Trenary killed it!”  “Ms. Trenary’s debut in this challenging part was a triumph; her spunk and delicacy came as no surprise to anyone who has watched her this season”. Of course, she will be dancing with her favorite partner Gray Davis, also from American Ballet Theatre, as her Cavalier.  Their beautiful Pas De Deux keeps the “magic” alive as they mesmerize the entire audience. Wow…we feel extraordinarily fortunate.

This unique version of the holiday classic showcases choreography by Co-Artistic Director Dan Guin, and a cast of more than 100 dancers including Raisel Cruz, Carlos Ignacio and Galindez Macias from National Ballet of Cuba, Toby Lewellen from Ballet Arkansas and Andrew Harper, a Freelance Dancer & Choreographer.  Set to the music by Tchaikovsky, The Nutcracker is a special treat for all ages.

Following the matinee performances don’t miss the Gingerbread Ball, a festive children’s party where kids and their parents can meet characters from The Nutcracker, including the Sugar Plum Fairy her Cavalier and of course Clara, while enjoying treats from “the land sweets” on the stage!  This is a great photo opportunity and not to be missed.
