Major Boca Raton Roads to Close for Railroad Improvements

roadBoca Raton residents should expect delays if they are crossing the railroads as crews will be working on the new Brightline rail systems.

The higher-speed rail system which is currently under construction will closePalmetto Park Road and the Florida East Coast Railway beginning 7 a.m. Monday, August 22, through Friday, August 26.

Then, from 7 a.m.Wednesday, August 24 through Friday, August 26, crews will close Spanish River Boulevard (40th Street) and the Florida East Coast Railway.

From Saturday, August 27 through Tuesday, August 30, Southwest 18th Street and the Florida East Coast Railway will also be closed. Glades road before the railroad will also close on August 27 and will re-open Thursday, September 1.

Finally, NW 20th Street before Dixie Highway will also be shut down from September 13 through September 17.

 

According to Brightline officials, the closures are necessary to improve the railroads for the express train service that, starting in 2017, will connect passengers from Miami to Orlando.
