Boca Raton Police Investigating Purse Snatchings
Detectives from the Boca Raton Police Services Department are investigating a robbery that happened around 9:45 pm Tuesday, August 16, 2016, outside the Publix Supermarket located at 1001 South Federal Highway. The victim said as she walked up to the passenger side of her car a silver Toyota drove up next to her.
The victim said, as the Toyota passed, someone reached out of the passenger window and ripped her purse off of her shoulder. The victim was not injured.
The suspect is described as a black male in his 20’s, short hair and clean shaven. A witness in the parking lot followed the vehicle as it exited onto Camino Real, then south onto Federal Highway. The witness said he lost sight of the car, as it was travelling at a high rate of speed. On Thursday, August 11, 2016 at about 6:15 p.m., Boca Raton Police Officers responded to a robbery in the Palmetto Park Square parking lot near K-Mart, 1401 West Palmetto Park Road.
The victim told officers she had just loaded her purchases into the trunk of her car and was about to open her driver’s door when she noticed an older model, silver or white, four-door car, pull into the spot next to her. The passenger in the rear of the car reached through his open window and grabbed the victim’s purse which was on her shoulder. The driver of the suspect car backed out and the victim released her purse. The suspect’s drove east through the parking lot towards Publix. The victim was not injured.
The suspect is described a black male in his early 20’s. The driver and front passenger are also described as black males, but possibly older than the suspect.
