The City of Boca Raton’s Planning and Zoning board gave its approval to move forward with a site plan for the proposed development of a Hillstone restaurant located at the site of the former Wildflower Club early Friday morning.

This recent 5-2 vote by the board can be added to the long history of negotiations and talks of what to do with the former Wildflower property located at 551 E. Palmetto Park Road.

Despite the current momentum by the board to go forward in developing the property into a waterfront restaurant for the citizens of Boca Raton , there are still a good majority of people that would rather the property’s fate be given the chance to be put up to a public vote in the effort to use the site for different means.  This petition would allow the property to be used instead as a site of public recreation, such as a park or green space.

With this new development from the city’s planning and zoning board, the Boca Raton City Council will have to once again take this and other forthcoming updates about the property into consideration before the council makes its definitive decision on what to do with the property on July 26.

The Boca Raton Tribune will continue to provide updates about the Wildflower property as it develops…
