Update: Stir Crazy Closes in Boca Raton Due To Lease Dispute with Town Center

The repercussions of Stir Crazy Fresh Asian Grill abrupt closure on Monday night continues to make waves in Boca Raton as the beloved hangout spot for many residents in the city was forced to close amidst legal issues with Simon Properties.

For the past 15 years, Boca Raton residents were able to enjoy Stir Crazy’s amazing array of items either before or after a long day of shopping.

However, Stir Crazy closed its doors Monday night, citing “ongoing legal issues”.

“Due to ongoing legal issues with the mall’s ownership, Simon Properties, we are announcing that we have made the difficult business decision – after more than 15 years – to immediately suspend operations and announce the closure of the Stir Crazy Fresh Asian Grill Restaurant at the Boca Raton Town Center,” read the statement by the Company.

According to Stir Crazy spokesperson, David Ayes, most of the legal issues are related to differences over lease arrangements.

Ayers continued by saying anyone who has purchased a gift card at the restaurant, and would like their money back must simply send an email to comments@stircrazy.com with the gift card number along with their name and address to send the refund check.

For anyone who sends this information, please allow three weeks to receive the refund check.

If you have purchased a Groupon for the restaurant, contact Groupon directly to receive their refund.

“Just in the short time since making our announcement, we’ve received many emails and messages of support from our guests,” said Ayers.”Yes, we are looking at relocating within the Southeast Florida market (which includes Boca Raton) and we are making plans to conduct a poll soon about locations we might want to consider.”

According to Ayers Approximately 60 people were employed at the restaurant; the vast majority of them on a part-time basis.
