Bobcats Boys Lacrosse Falls to Belen Prep of Miami at Home

In a season of highs and lows, the Boca High Bobcats were looking for a win.

Opening up the game both teams felt each other out and each put one in the back of the net.

As the first quarter progressed, on a counter attack Richie Perez for Belen Prep makes a play down the left side of the field and penetrates into the middle. Covered by 3 Bobcat players, Perez manages to get in front of the goal and rolls the ball into the back of the net.

At the beginning of the second quarter, Belen Prep wins the ball and spreads out the Bobcat defense looking for a way in. That’s when Johnny Powell for Belen Prep finds a space and attempts to shoot, but the ball soars just right of the goal.

But the Bobcats didn’t relent and kept pursuing the equalizing goal.

On a mistake by the Bobcat offense, Adrian Rey for Belen Prep makes his way down field and without a problem adds to the 2-1 score.

With the score at 3-1 for Belen Prep, the Bobcats looked to close the gap as they approached Belen Prep’s goal. However all attempts, by the Bobcats, at the end of the half fell short as the shot flew past the goal.

In the remaining minutes of the half on the counterattack, Gabriel Garcia for Belen Prep exploits the number disadvantage. They pass the ball in front of the goal, and back to Garcia who adds to the score board.

The score was 4-1 for Belen Prep at the half.

As Boca High went to the locker room, they looked for a way to get back into the game.

However after the opening whistle of the second half, Belen Prep adds one to the score board.

The Bobcats kept fighting and did not relent.

Opening up the fourth quarter, the Bobcats sought to open up Belen Prep’s defense. And early in the quarter, the Bobcats midfielder William Lane, scores as the Bobcats kept pursing to close the deficit.

With 6’ minutes left in the game, the Boca High Bobcats regain momentum and put Belen Prep on the defense.

With 1 minute left in the game, in response to Belen Preps counter attack, Bobcats’ defense launches the ball to Bobcats’, Kyle Romano, who was left one-on-one with Belen Prep’s goalie and rolls the ball into the goal.

Boca High put up a fight, but all efforts still came up short as the Bobcats lost to Belen Prep 5 to 3.
