Research Park at Florida Atlantic University Announces New Board Members

The Research Park at Florida Atlantic University announces its 2016 new board of directors.

 

Dr. Robert D. Parks was named chairman; Michael I. Daszkal, CPA, was named vice chairman; and Dr. Daniel C. Flynn was named treasurer. The new board members’ terms were installed on Jan. 20, 2016.

 

A native Floridian, Parks holds both a Master of Education and Bachelor of Business degree from Florida Atlantic University. In 1995, he received his doctoral degree in Education Leadership from the University of Miami. He served as a member of the Broward County School Board from 1986-2010 and was elected chairperson three times during his 24-year tenure. Prior to becoming a school board member, Parks spent 17 years teaching in the Broward County school system.

 

Daszkal is the co-founder and managing partner of Daszkal Bolton, a boutique public accounting headquartered in Boca Raton. An honorary lifetime board member of The Haven, Daszkal serves as treasurer for PROPEL, an organization that supports the educational achievement and leadership development of the South Palm Beach’s less fortunate youth. He is both a trustee and a board member of the Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce, and a trustee of the Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce; he is a board member of both the FAU College of Business and the Research Park at Florida Atlantic University, and is active in the Broward Alliance, the Business Development Board, the Economic Development Council and New World Angels. Flynn serves as vice president for research at Florida Atlantic University. Prior to joining FAU in January 2015,

 

Flynn served as associate dean for research at the University of Delaware, College of Health Sciences. He previously held positions at the Commonwealth Medical College in Scranton, PA, including associate dean for research and economic development.

Membership of the board of directors consists of three members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County, three members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners of Broward County and one member appointed by the president of Florida Atlantic University.
