Boca Raton High School Wins Third State Championship in School History

Boca Raton High School defeated Winter Park in the Class 5A state championship at Melbourne High by the final score of 2-0.

The championship was the Bobcats’ third state championship in school history, the second under head coach Marcelo Castillo.

Boca Raton High senior defender Joshua Adejunmobi played extremely well, markin Winter Park’s top scorer, Culter Coleman, the entire game, the rest of the Boca Raton defense did a solid job of not letting the Wildcats get behind them.

Adejunmobi was all over the field on last weekend, It was Adejunmobi who set up Joseph Pal for the first Boca Raton goal in the sixth minute.

The second goal came in the 47th minute on a free kick that saw Adejunmobi go up high to beat his defender and head one into the goal.

However, the Bobcats would not have made it to the championship game if it wasn’t for the heroics of goalkeeper Alan Trani who came up in the clutch for the Bobcats in the semifinals versus Jacksonville-Mandarin. Down 2-0, the Bobcats clawed their way back to take down Jacksonville-Mandarin in penalty kicks, which Trani scored the dagger to advance the Bobcats.

Trani, who came to Boca Raton from Brazil late last year, has been the standout keeper for Castillo and the Bobcats all season long.

“It’s amazing,” Trani said. “To be able to play for my first time for Boca High, my first year here in the United States. It’s just amazing that in just a short period of time to have all of this — being a state champion on my first try. Some have been trying for four years. They lost two years ago in the final. I’m happy we could bring the state title back home.”
