7th Annual Boca Raton Art Festival Held in Sanborn Square Park

By Casey Westfall

The 7th annual Boca Raton Fine Art Show was held over the weekend of Jan 23-24 at Sanborn Square Park, and despite the rain, it drew sizable crowds to the venue.

160 professional artists participated in the show, with judges bestowing those whom they considered the best with ribbons and cash prizes.

But they weren’t the only ones whose work was acknowledged by the judges. Hot Works, LLC, who sponsored the art show, held the Budding Artist Competition for participants who were ages 9-19.

The competition had 40 applicants from 11 schools in the area, with four winners who were announced Sunday afternoon, and were awarded $250 in cash prizes.

Of the four winners of the Budding Artist Competition, three came from schools in the Boca area. 16 year old Pierce Hermann, who attends Boca Raton Community High School, was bestowed with a Budding Artist Award of Excellence, along with Meir Lazar, 15, who attends Weinbaum Yeshiva High School.

The highest honor in the competition, the Best Budding award, was given to Sarah Khambalia, 16, who also attends Weinbaum Yeshiva.

Patty Narozny, who is the executive producer for the Boca Raton Fine Art Show, says that the Budding Artist Competition is “part of our commitment to bring art education into the community,” and “gives budding, young artists a golden opportunity to begin learning the rules of being part of a professional art show and exhibition.
