A Major League Park For A Major League Milestone

As part of the on-field celebrations for Labor Day, 2015 the Bionic Glove Project was proud to be at Marlins’ Park to watch as young “Julian” threw out the ceremonial 1st Pitch. Julian is BGP’s youngest recipient at 6 years-old. Even more impressive is that Julian has only been wearing a 3D hand for 3 months. Already on his second hand (to accommodate a growing body) Julian was able to deliver a “perfect strike” to the Marlins catcher on the other end.

Joining Julian was his family – mother, father, and older brother who himself was in a little league tournament last weekend in Coral Springs.

BGP Co-Founders Charles Perry Weinthal and Chad Coarsey were also on hand to offer encouragement and support for Julian and his family.

“This is really is all it’s about” said Corsey. “From personal experience I know how important it is to feel like you are like your other friends. I am so proud of Julian. He reminds me how much of an impact BGP can have on the lives of other children.”

Perry Weinthal, BGP Chief Science Officer and a parent himself knows that as a parent “ you always want the best for your children. If we can make Julian and hos family this happy then I feel we are fdoing something very right.” Headded “this is what gets me going everyday. I am committed to helping as many children as we can. Who could say no?!”

Julian’s prosthetic alternative is a low cost fully functioning hand that BGP plans on making available to the children of Pam Beach county as well as South Florida.
