Marvio Ciribelli Live at Le Chat Noir in Miami

image2 (1)Pianist Marvio Ciribelli from Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, will be performing in Miami, at the Bar Le Chat Noir on August 7 from 10pm to 1am .

For the show’s repertoire, new arrangements for Favela (Tom Jobim), Voce e Eu (Carlos Lyra e Vinicius de Moraes), Centro Avante (Marvio Ciribelli), April Child (Moacyr Santos), Aquarela do Brasil (Ary Barroso) e Tico Tico no Fubá (Zequinha de Abreu) will be showcased, along with special participation from Diogo Brown (bass) and Silas Silva Filho (drums) .

Ciribelli shows the renewal of Bossa Nova, Choro and of Samba-Jazz.

Tunes of Brazilian greats such as Vinicius de Moraes, Tom Jobim, Chico Buarque, Baden Powell, Laércio de Freitas, Jacob do Bandolim, Ernesto Nazareth and Pixinguinha can also be expected.

Ciribelli adds all of his creativity and enthusiasm, obtaining a Brazilian Jazz, that imposes itself through its quality and identity.

With classical background, Ciribelli shows the control of the means of expressing himself, building his own language. Ciribelli has ten albums recorded, three of them recorded live at Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.

Studying under some of bossa nova greats such as Luiz Eça (Tamba Trio) and Antonio Adolfo (Trio 3D), Ciribelli has been performing in international events, such as the famous Montreux Jazz Festival, the celebration of ’50 years of Bossa Nova’ at La Place Bellecour in Lyon, France, where over 25.000 people were in attendance; the festivals “Blue Planet in Concert” (Munich, Germany), “Montreux Meets Brienz” (Switzerland), and National events, as the festivals Mauá Jazz (RJ), Ibitipoca Jazz (MG) and Tom Jobim’s Birthday (in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro).

His CD ‘Nazarethna Confraria’ which features the American singer Freddy Cole as a special guest interpreting the Bossa Nova “Stay”, a Ciribelli collaboration with Brazilian composer Marcos Valle, who also plays in the record.

With English singer John Lawton (Uriah Heep) and dutch guitarrist Jan Dumée, Ciribelli had recorded the album OTR ‘Mamonama’ released in Europe under label Lion music. With members of Dutch Rock band “Focus” (Thijs van Leer, Pierre van der Linden and Bobby Jacobs), Ciribelli had recorded a new Album set to be released this year.

Ciribelli has formerly performed with artists as Thaís Motta (producing her album “Minha Estação”), Bibi Ferreira, Vanessa Rangel, Nilze Carvalho, Sonia Santos and the instrumentalists Chico Batera (Chico Buarque’s percussionist); Sidinho Moreira (Paul Simon’s percussionist); Arthur Maia (Gilberto Gil’s bass player); Marcio Bahia (Hermeto Pascoal’s drummer); Marcelo Martins (Djavan and Ivan Lins’ sax player); Marcelo Salazar (percussionist) and Alex Malheiros and Mamão (Azymuth’s bassist and drummer).

A piano teacher of Brazilian music and improvisation, Ciribelli held workshops for professionals and students from all the world. One of them took place in Los Angeles, where he was invited by The International Association of Jazz Educators (IAJE). The musician Jamey Aebersold, one of the most important authors of books and CDs about jazz and improvisation, attended his workshop.

In addition, Ciribelli was responsible for the composition of the soundtrack for the film “A Terceira Morte de Joaquim Bolivar”, directed by Flavio Candido.

A piano teacher of Brazilian music and improvisation, Ciribelli held workshops for professionals and students from all over the world. The International Association of Jazz Educators (IAJE) invited Ciribelli to one in Los Angelos, California.

Jamey Aebersold, one of the most important authors of books and CDs about jazz and improvisation, attended his workshop.

Ciribelli is now working with a new Bossa Nova’s singer, Mari Biolchini, who is only 19 years old.
