Mark Stenner Not Returning to West Boca High School

By: Stephanie Cornwell

After it was released that he had plagiarized two graduation speeches in a row, Mark Stenner was temporarily removed as Principal of West Boca Raton Community High School.

The situation was under investigation for the majority of the summer, when Superintendent Robert Avossa suggested to the school board that Stenner be punished with a 10-day paid suspension and a letter of apology.

However, as members of the West Boca community started to flood the school board with their concerns about bringing Stenner back, Avossa expressed that he was not happy with the process.

On Monday, Stenner made an unauthorized appearance at West Boca, furthering the anger felt by many parents, students and community members. A new proposal was then announced just before the school board was scheduled to meet at 2pm.

As of today, the school board released a new agreement in which Stenner is placed in a “non-instructional” position. This new position within the school board will be decided by the Superintendent.

More information of this developing story as it become avaliable.
