Run for the Ribbons Returns for its Fourth Year in Boca Raton

Momentum continues to build in support of the fourth annual Run for the Ribbons 5K set to benefit the League of Ribbons at Boca Raton Regional Hospital’s Eugene M. & Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute. The League of Ribbons supports all types of cancer patients and in runs past, hundreds of survivors and supporters have come out to participate.

This family friendly 5K is set for a bright and early kick off on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 7:00am at the Sandler Pavilion at Lynn Cancer Institute and passes through the uniquely historic and picturesque Old Floresta neighborhood in Boca Raton. The Boca Raton Tribune will be sponsoring staff reporter Sam Smith in this year’s run who will be interviewing other participants to feature in a follow-up story highlighting this year’s event.

Registration is now open for this year’s run. Race packets will be provided by well-known local retailer, Runners Edge, and will be available for pick up between May 29th and June 5th at their store located at 3195 N. Federal Highway in Boca Raton. Prices for registration range from $18 to $35 depending on date of registration. There will be Accuchip timing results and a photo finish for all finishers.

For participants interested in a shorter distance, there will be a one-mile walk/run with a registration cost of $10-25 depending on age and date of registration. If you are unable to pre-register, registration opens at 6:00am the day of the event. There will be a 6:30am group warm-up and the race begins promptly at 7:00am.

Darci McNally, MSW, LCSW, OSW-C, Director of Oncology Support Service and Community Outreach at the Lynn Cancer Institute who founded the event four years says “The race started off as a small grassroots effort to support the League of Ribbons and in just four years it has blossomed into one of the hospital’s most anticipated community events.”
