After his rather surprising victory in last month’s election, Jeremy Rodgers was officially sworn in at Boca Raton City Hall on March 31st alongside Councilman Robert Weinroth, who was re-elected to a three-year term on the City Council unopposed.

The crowd packed the Council Chambers on Tuesday to welcome newcomer Rodgers and to thank term-limited Councilwoman Constance Scott for a job well done.

“When we started this, no one gave us a chance,” Rodgers said to the crowd. “We had a tough road, it’s not often you face being outspent 10 to one, go against the establishment and find yourself sitting up here.”

One of the first orders of business for the new Council Members was to name a new Deputy Mayor, to fill the vacancy left by term-limited Scott.

The Council elected Council Member Weinroth the new Deputy Mayor of the of Boca Raton.

After a few more decision were made, including re-electing Council Member Scott Singer chairman of the Community Redevelopment Agency, the Council adjourned to the City Hall courtyard where official Council photographs were taken and those in attendance could enjoy refreshments and speak to their elected officials.
