8 Local Places to Dine Worth Your Time

When it comes to a Dine In Family Restaurant, some people prefer a low-key atmosphere, some prefer a small, bustling bar scene. One thing we can all agree on: Excellent food is fairly universal and these following finds have got that down to a science. Whether you’re looking for the best bang for your buck, or looking to splurge a little, we’ve got you covered.
Yakitori Sake House
Price: $$$$$
Location: Royal Palm Place, 271 Southeast Mizner Boulevard, Boca Raton
Arguably the best sushi in Boca, Yakitori Sake House never disappoints. For the sushi-savvy, there’s just about any creatively named roll you might imagine- the Miami Heat Roll being a personal favorite. The modern interior and patio space both offer an ambient, relaxing experience well-suited for those nights you are looking for a quieter space to unwind. If you aren’t a sushi fan, Yakitori offers a lengthy selection of other Pan-Asian dishes (I highly recommend the volcano rice if you fall into this category). The service is also worth commending. The staff is consistently friendly and helpful. Yakitori is a local gem sure to please even the pickiest of sushi connoisseurs.
Tanzy
Price: $$$$$
Location: Mizner Park, 301 Plaza Real, Boca Raton
An upscale movie theater wasn’t the only thing that came to Mizner Park when iPic did. This eatery, on the first floor of the theater, is hidden to those without some insider knowledge, and that just might add to the appeal. It stays true to the more trendy theme of the theater, yet maintains its own, completely separate atmosphere for those looking to skip out on the movie experience. Whether you’re looking to catch a film after, just looking for a bustling bar at happy hour, or seeking a sit down dinner, Tanzy entertains all of the above. You get what you pay for here. While it may not be particularly light on the wallet, the menu and atmosphere are very unique, paired with exceptional food and preparation.
Farmer’s Table
Price: $$$$$
Location: 1901 North Military Trail, Boca Raton
This gem beckons a healthier crowd, flaunting health conscious, organic, locally-sourced, and gluten-free options. Whether the mention of a menu being “healthy” typically catches your attention or sends you running, the food here appeals universally to both kinds of people. As someone who falls somewhere in between, The portions were more manageable and allowed for sampling of several items on the menu. The rustic-chic setting offered indoor and patio dining, both of which offered a very ambient, quiet sit down dining experience. Their flat breads definitely stand out on the menu and are worth trying. The service was also worth mentioning; the waiters were very well versed on a very extensive menu and incredibly helpful.
Kapow! Noodle Bar
Price: $$$$$
Location: 431 Plaza Real, Mizner Park, Boca Raton
Another local rarity is the idea of the Pan Asian, contemporary noodle bar, exclusive to Kapow. It’s an offbeat mix that works well- specializing in creative cocktails, small plates, and of course, noodles. Its art-adorned walls offer a more condensed, but modern space perfect for happy hour. Its cocktail menu is extensive, overcompensating for a slightly more limited food menu. Quality over quantity definitely applies here. The Bar breaks the typical Boca mold, offering a lively atmosphere, with a name truly matching its effect.
Rebel House
Price: $$$$$
Location: 297 East Palmetto Park Road, Boca Raton
Rebel House owners are no stranger to local success, having also opened Charm City (reviewed earlier here). They’ve perfected the formula for a thriving restaurant business and Rebel House just may be their best product. The artsy, eclectic atmosphere mirrors its menu. With a menu that changes every six weeks (with some popular items remaining), the Rebel House caters to just abut every food preference. They’re best known for their creative tapas and drinks. Their mismatched, quirky decor caters to the perfect happy hour scene.
Yard House
Price: $$$$$
Location: Mizner Park, 201 Plaza Real #1201, Boca Raton
Mizner Park is on a roll, laying claim to my third local find: Yard House. Yard House’s menu is an extensive one, and yet, the quality seems almost inconsistent with the pricing. Pricing is very reasonable (in a Boca “reasonable” type of way), and the food is incredible. If you’re not looking to break the bank but aren’t willing to sacrifice quality, you’ve found your place. There’s no one specialty or type of cuisine that dominates this high-end, sports-bar-esque menu, which is one of its most redeeming qualities. As far as atmosphere, the space offers outdoor and indoor seating, both of which seem to always fill quickly. While part of a chain, Yard House defies all negative connotations associated with the term.
The Office
Price: $$$$$
Location: 201 E. Atlantic Ave, Delray Beach
Sharing the same owner as BurgerFi (reviewed here), The Office is its more upscale (and pricer) counterpart. Located just off the Avenue, The Office provides both retro indoor decor and seating as well as a bustling outdoor bar setup. The concept of “the office,” offering a theme related to the restaurant’s name, adds something unique to the brand. The location allows for a festive happy hour scene and the menu is well suited for a casual dinner or lunch, as much of the menu consists of tapas and specialty cocktails. If you’re looking for a healthier alternative to satisfy that comfort food craving, look no further. The Office offers a “go green” portion of their menu. A favorite of mine and their best known appetizer is the fried green tomatoes.
Ninja Spinning Sushi Bar
Price: $$$$$
Location: 41 East Palmetto Park Road, Boca Raton
With a fairly well-priced and extensive menu, Ninja has whatever floats your boat- literally. Sushi is served to you through a conveyor belt-like system of boats to choose from, which is their major claim to fame. This concept has earned Ninja its following and creates an atmosphere well suited for larger, group dinners. Ninja offers a more upbeat and louder vibe than some of its sushi competitors and may not be your best pick if you’re looking for a quiet, sit down dinner. However, the concept of the floating sushi boats is one that makes the experience worthwhile.
