Cancer Treatment Centers of America Appoints Nancy Hesse to Chief Nursing Officer

Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) has named Nancy Hesse, MSN, RN,  as its Chief Nursing Officer.  Hesse previously held the position of SVP, Patient of Care Services at CTCA – Eastern Regional Medical Center and will continue in that role while assuming her new position.

“Nancy brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role of Chief Nursing Officer,” said Gerard van Grinsven, President and CEO of CTCA.  “Her outstanding leadership and tireless efforts to uphold quality patient care and the Mother Standard® of care at our Eastern Regional Medical Center have provided guidance for our clinical nursing staff to the benefit of our patients.  We are excited for her to apply that same level of dedication, compassion and inspiration to the overall nursing program from a national perspective.”

In this position, Hesse will be responsible for leading the development and execution of system-wide programs and best practices for safety outcomes and clinical quality.  Utilizing her leadership skills, Hesse will be the voice of nursing for CTCA to ensure that the nursing staff is heard and accounted for in organizational decisions.

Hesse joined CTCA in January 2014 after serving as Chief Nursing Officer at Abington Health, Lansdale Hospital, a position that she held for four and a half years.  While in the Abington Health system, she was also a System Director of Emergency Services; Director, Emergency Trauma Center; Nurse Manager, Emergency Trauma Center; Staff Nurse, Emergency Trauma Center; and Clinical Leader, Medical Surgical Supplemental Staff.  Hesse received her Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Nursing from Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania.  She continued her education at University of Pennsylvania, obtaining a Master in Nursing Leadership with a minor in Organizational Dynamics.

Hesse is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives and Emergency Nurses Association (ENA).  As an accomplished professional, Hesse has been recognized with the following awards: a Nursing Spectrum Award Finalist in 2005; Lifetime ENA Membership in 2004; Abington Memorial Hospital 2003 Williamson Award; and National MISA Speakers Award in 1993.
