Spirit of Giving Network Announces Former Boca Raton Mayor Susan Whelchel to Join Board of Directors 

susan-whelchelThe Spirit of Giving Network (SOGN) recently announced former Boca Raton Mayor Susan Whelchel will join its Board of Directors.  Whelchel’s appointment expands the Board to nine directors.

Whelchel, one of the founding members of SOGN has been a part of the Boca Raton community for over 30 years. In her ten year plus tenure as a dedicated public servant, Whelchel has been an avid advocate of the Boca Raton community. Her passion and support of various neighborhood issues are evident in her many years of volunteerism and her responsible use of public resources while in office.

Whelchel states “I’m so honored to be joining the Board of Directors for the Spirit of Giving Network. As the former Mayor of Boca and one of the original founding members of SOGN, I always believed to make effective changes in our community we have to work together, share resources and take on the “WE not ME” mindset, states Susan Whelchel. “SOGN is a wonderful example of that belief…through encouraging neighboring non-profit collaborations we become a stronger, smarter, more compassionate community…the amazing result of truly embracing the spirit of giving.”

In recognition of Whelchel ‘s dedication to public service and commitment to the community, she was named Boca Raton Forum City Official of the Year for five consecutive years, received the Rotary Club of Boca Raton Opal Award and was the recipient the Florida Atlantic University esteemed Talon Award.

Fellow members of the Board of Directors includes: President Douglas Paton, Treasurer Corinne Rea, Secretary Linda Gunn Paton, Nori Carter, Louise Glover, Jennifer Nawrocki, Devin Radkay, and Ann Rutherford.
