JAFCO Author’s Luncheon at Addison Reserve C.C.

Today I attend the JAFCO author’s lunchon at the Addison Reserve C.C. The Guest Speaker was Bethany Gorny
who told us about her book “Fridays with Eva”, a story of her mother-in-law Eva Gorney, a holocaust survivor. She was a very interesting speaker and told us how during the holocaust her mother-in-law and
her family left Poland and went to Russia. As Jews, they were sent to live in Siberia where they had
little food, freezng cold and concentration camp like barricks to live in. Many died but Eva and her
family managed to survive because she became the cook for the group and was able to steal food for her
family and friends. A very interesting speaker for sure. Do read her book Friday’s with Eva, by
